Christopher Gurley, 63

September 25, 1961 – August 26, 2025

Mantachie-Christopher Edwin Gurley, better known as Chris to all, died Tuesday, August 26, 2025 at NMMC after a brief battle with cancer. He was 63 years old. Born in Tupelo on September 25, 1961 to Charles and Faye King Gurley, Chris always loved and respected his parents until their deaths. He spent much of his working life as a Truck Driver and Journeyman Carpenter. Chris graduated from Shannon High School. He had lived the last 14 years along with his daughter, Lakin and Liza, in Mantachie. Chris loved watching football on TV, was all things Ole Miss and rooted strongly for the Rebels in each game! A lover of all God’s creation, Chris was an avid fisherman. He was head-over-hills crazy about his twin daughters.

Leaving behind to mourn his passing are this twin daughters, Lakyen and Liza Gurley of Mantachie; his sisters, Sheila Gurley and Rhonda Gurley and his extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Faye Gurley, a sister, Janice Gurley Johnson and a nephew, Justin Kitchens.
