City honors outgoing alderman Johnny Anderson

The City of New Albany honored outgoing Ward Two Alderman Johnny Anderson with a reception Thursday at the Magnolia Civic Center. Anderson decided not to seek re-election this year after having served six terms.

Mayor Tim Kent presented Anderson with a plaque and key to the city in recognition of his contributions to the community and his services as alderman in particular.

Kent said the honor is reserved for those who have contributed to the city’s growth and progress and Anderson has done that consistently and well.

Anderson has represented Ward Two on the city board for 24 of the past 28 years.
Anderson was first elected to serve Ward Two in 1993 and served continuously for 12 years. He did not seek re-election in 2005 because of a possible conflict of interest in his then employment as human resources officer in the state department of mental health.

He went to work for Toyota as a human resources manager in 2008 and ran and was elected to the city board again in 2009. He has served continuously since then. He now works for Albany Industries as human resources manager.
