Clifton Joseph Boyles, 58

May 13, 1967 – November 20, 2025

“The measure of a life is not found in wealth or recognition, but in the love we give, the work of our hands, and the memories we leave behind.”

Clifton Joseph Boyles, lovingly known to countless friends as “Joey,” entered into his Heavenly Home on Thursday night, November 20, 2025, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford, Mississippi, with his family faithfully by his side as they said their goodbyes.

A service celebrating his purpose-filled life will take place at 4 PM Sunday evening, November 23, 2025, at Martin Town Baptist Church, with visitation from 2 PM until service time. His dear friend and pastor, Bro. Andy Russell, will officiate. The family warmly invites everyone to join them as they honor the life of a truly remarkable man.

Born on May 13, 1967, in Greenwood, Mississippi, Joey was the son of the late Clifton A. C. and Mary Ann Abbey Boyles. He received his education through the Greenwood Public School System before setting out on a life defined by hard work, determination, and grit. Known proudly as a “jack of all trades,” Joey was a self-made man who excelled at anything he put his hands to. From his earlier days as a truck driver, to his work in underground drilling, running gas, water, and electrical pipelines, to his years in the construction industry, Joey embodied the value and dignity of honest labor.

On November 14, 2015, he married the love of his life, Jennifer Shaw Boyles, and together they built a home full of love, laughter, and purpose in the Pontotoc community. On their little piece of land, Joey worked endlessly to provide for the people he cherished most. His son, Cameron, was his pride and joy — a bond as steady as the ground they walked on. Joey made it his mission to teach Cameron every skill he knew, ensuring his son was equipped with the same wisdom, work ethic, and determination that shaped his own life.

A devoted Christian, Joey enjoyed attending Martin Town Baptist Church, where he quickly became loved by his church family. He especially treasured listening to the gospel preached by his friend, Bro. Andy.

To his family, Joey was “Mr. Fix-It,” a man who could repair or build just about anything. Whether acting as a number-one shade-tree mechanic swapping out a motor in a single day, or constructing his own 30-by-40 barn with nothing but his own hands and sheer will, Joey always found a way. Even when a project didn’t look perfect, he never lost his humor, often declaring with a grin, “Good enough for government work.”

Although capable of doing any job placed before him, Joey found his greatest happiness in the quiet comfort of home. He loved working in the yard or out in the pasture, settling in for a Mississippi State or Boston Red Sox game, or keeping up with NASCAR racing. Some of his most cherished moments were spent on the porch with Jennifer and Cameron, simply listening to the stillness of the evening and appreciating the peace of being together.

Joey was a man who never needed much — he was content, grateful, and grounded. His humble spirit, hardworking hands, and unwavering love for his family will continue to shape their lives for years to come.

Joey’s presence will be missed in more ways than words can ever fully capture. He was a wonderful husband who loved Jennifer with every part of his being, a devoted father whose pride in Cameron was evident to anyone who knew him, and a dear friend who could always be counted on. His memory will continue to live in the places and moments he loved most — in the hum of a motor being worked on, a ball game playing in the background, the quiet peace of a country evening, or a simple job done with love and determination. When we think of these things, we will be reminded that Joey is still with us, guiding, inspiring, and forever held close in our hearts.

In addition to his wife and son, memories will continue to be cherished by four brother in laws, Marty Shaw (Paula), Russell Shaw (Dana), Paul Walker (Nita), and Steve Walker (Nancy), ten nieces and nephews, Megan Franks (Michael), Sara Shaw (Sean Rutter), Michael Shaw, Kyle Shaw, Daniel Shaw (Paige), Brent Walker, Trey Walker, and Jessica Walker, ten great nieces and nephews, and countless friends whose lives he touched.

In addition to his mother and father, Joey was also preceded in death by his sister, Teresa Gail Boyles, and his brother in law, Robert Walker.

New Albany Funeral and Cremation Care invites you to share memories with Joey’s family.
