Museum art exhibit features work by students at four county schools

The Union County High School Art Exhibit opened Tuesday night at the Union County Heritage Museum with more than 140 pieces of artwork submitted by Myrtle, Ingomar, West Union and East Union Schools.

The annual exhibit and competition has both two- and three-dimensional work by the students. Paintings, drawings, linoleum prints, ceramics and more give a broad array of energetic work that always brings a lot of interest from the students, teachers and community, said Jill Smith, museum director.

“We are very happy to get back into the swing of student art exhibits, since we missed it last year due to COVID. We invite the community to stop by the museum and see the exhibit before it ends May 5.”

“We thank our Community Partners for sticking with us through the recent hard times and helping us present this work for the community,” she said.

Art teachers Amy Ball from Ingomar, Jessica Waits from Myrtle, Justin Treadaway from West Union and Kalicia Henderson from East Union worked hard throughout the year in coping with virtual school and art work to help students accomplish a lot of good work, Smith said.
