County schools returning to traditional graduation ceremonies this year

The Union County School District is going back to traditional graduation ceremonies this year.

Ingomar and West Union will again have full ceremonies in their respective gyms.

East Union and Myrtle will have their graduation ceremonies on their football fields. This will be the first time Myrtle will be able to use the field for graduation.

This past year, due to the pandemic, attendance was very limited and families were only able to attend for a few students at a time.

This year, each graduate will have 12 tickets for family or friends to attend.

Myrtle graduation will be at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 20.

East Union graduation will be at 8 p.m. Thursday, May 20.

Ingomar will have graduation at 6 p.m. Friday, May 21.

West Union will have graduation at 8 p.m., Friday, May 21.

The ceremonies were separated into different times and nights several years ago. This was to allow people who have family or friends graduating at more than one school to attend without having to choose one when they were the same night.

Now that Myrtle has a football field, their graduation ceremony probably will be moved to 8 p.m. in 2022.
