Creative playmaking summer camp starts soon
Magnolia Civic Center Manager Emily Draffen is reminding parents and youngsters that registration is open for the Creative Playmaking Summer Camp.
On July 19 to 23 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Magnolia Civic Center, teaching artist Aliza Moran will guide students through the playmaking process. If you know a young person who wants to make, write, craft, puppeteer or perform for a live audience, this is the summer camp for them.
Cost is $100 for the week. Snacks and drinks are provided, but sponsors ask each student to bring a lunch from home each day.
Kids will collaborate on creating a play from scratch. The unique process focuses on character creation, exploration, and the crafting of their very own puppets that will be used to express the story they make together.
The students will then rehearse their play and give a free public performance on Friday, July 23 at 5:30 p.m. on the Ciné Theater stage.
All are welcome to attend the performance.
Call (662) 539-3909 to register.
