Current draft of new sign ordinance nears final version
Work on the draft of a new ordinance regulating signs in New Albany is nearing what its authors believe will be its final version.
While the ordinance is still under development, nanewsweb.com is providing the most up-to-date draft of the ordinance below as a microsoft work document. The type that appears in various colors — green, red, orange, purple — indicates portions of the ordinance on which those writing it may not have fully agreed on the wording in the final draft. This draft, including color coding, per the copy transmitted to NAnewsweb.com by the city code enforcement officer on Friday March 9, 2018.
A hard copy of the current draft of the sign ordinance can also be obtained at city hall during business hours from City Clerk Frankie Roberts.
Before the Board of Aldermen can pass the sign ordinance, they must give at least a two week published notice of a public hearing during which members of the public can address whatever concerns they may have. At this time it appears that the earliest the ordinance would likely up for a final vote by the Board of Aldermen will be in May, 2018. Questions or comments may be addressed to any New Albany Alderman by e-mail or telephone.
