Curtis “Lynn” Walker, 72
November 21, 1953 – December 28, 2025
Curtis “Lynn” Walker, 72, passed away peacefully on December 28, 2025 in the home that he built. He was born in Tippah County on November 21, 1953, to the late Charles Thomas and Ruth Shelton Walker.
Lynn spent the first half of his working life as a printer and the second half as a carpenter. A new year snowfall drew Lynn and his future best friend and the love of his life, Kathy Wigington Walker, together in 1985. They married less than a year later and celebrated 40 years of marriage on October 4, 2025. They had two daughters, Erin and Hannah (Casey Mosley) Walker, and an honorary daughter, Nathalie Thielemans of Brussels, Belgium, who started out as an exchange student and ended up family.
Known as a talented musician, Lynn loved the music of John Prine, spending countless evenings entertaining family and friends with front porch concerts mostly consisting of Prine songs. In his second career as a carpenter, he added to the tiny home on the hill to make space for a more peaceful existence between his young daughters. Lynn was happiest on the hill, having traveled to Germany and Toronto ONCE and therefore seen it all. He will be remembered in bad jokes, good music, and the love we have for him in the home that he built.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Norma Jean Moffitt, Frances Slay, and Kay Holiday; and brother Danny Walker.
He is survived by his wife and daughters; son-in-law Casey Mosley; his sister Mary Ann Forsythe, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Taking inspiration from Prine’s “Please Don’t Bury Me,” Lynn will be cremated and not buried in the cold, cold ground. There will be a celebration of life in the summer of 2026 to honor him. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to John Prine’s Hello in There Foundation.
