Daryl “Woody” Sheffield, age 62, of Mooreville, passed away on August 22, 2025, at his residence. He was born on May 4, 1963, in Columbus, Mississippi, to Jimmy and Patsy Sheffield.A longtime resident of Mooreville, Woody was a devoted member of Boguefala Baptist Church. Throughout his career, he worked as a truck driver for Lane, Swift, and Martin Transport, earning the respect of his colleagues and the friendship of many along the road. Woody had a zest for life and a deep love for the outdoors. He enjoyed horseback riding, hunting, fishing, and water skiing, and was a proud supporter of St. Jude, often participating in benefit events. More than anything, Woody cherished the time he spent with his family, making lasting memories filled with laughter, love, and adventure.
He will be remembered for his kind heart, strong work ethic, and the joy he brought to those around him.
Visitation will be held Sunday, August 24, 2025, 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm at Holland Funeral Directors-Tupelo & Monday, August 25, 2025, 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm at Boguefala Baptist Church-Mooreville MS. Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 25, 2025, 4:00 pm at the Boguefala Baptist Church, with Bro. Bubba Kennedy and Bro. David Perry officiating.
Burial will take place in the Boguefala Baptist Church Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Ellie Sheffield of Mooreville; father, Jimmy Sheffield, of Mooreville; sons, Dylan Sheffield, and wife Samantha of Mooreville, Hunter Sheffield, of Fulton, Lamar Davis, and wife Lindsey of Nettleton, and Brad Davis and wife Shawnda of Tupelo; grandchildren, Gabbi Davis, Levi Davis, Luke Davis, Wyatt Davis, Madelyn Davis, and McKenna Earnest; brother, Greg Sheffield; sister in laws, Cathy Hendrix, Amy Griffin, Bonnie Carnathan, and host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are Dylan Sheffield, Hunter Sheffield, Lamar Davis, Brad Davis, Billy Sheffield, Parrish Sheffield.
