David Brian Smith, 37

January 25, 1988 – February 8, 2025

David Brian Smith, of Falkner, would tell visitors, “Your house is calling you,” when he believed it was time for them to go home. On Saturday, February 8, 2025, David was called home by his Heavenly Father.

At 37, David was a young man with an old soul. He enjoyed his family and his overflow of pictures, in which he’d lovingly point out how fat you were. He adored his dog-eared church directories, classic country music, and trips to Ripley, likely for his most cherished thing: McDonald’s sweet tea.

Waiting for David just inside heavenly, golden arches are his stepfather (and comedy partner) Nat Wright, his sister-in-law Julie Smith, and his grandparents Roy and Mary Miskelly and Floyd and Eloise Smith.

Many family members will miss David’s wonderfully blunt humor and their daily phone calls in David’s rotation. These include his parents and life-long caregivers: father Mike Smith and mother Jackie Wright, his siblings, who kept him as honest as possible: Mark Smith, Tim Lankford and husband Hank, Will Wright and wife Erica, and Brian Wright and wife Shanon, and his treasured nephews and nieces: Wade Smith, Wit Wright, Colt Wright, Tessa and Kassie Wright, Carley Hughes, and Daycee Caviness. His Uncle Freddie and Aunt Kathye Miskelly will now need to find someone else who loves shredding all their old envelopes and empty Kleenex boxes.

David finally knows the answer to, “Why God put your eyes there?”. But that doesn’t mean he’ll stop asking.

Funeral service celebrating David’s life will be at 2 PM Tuesday January 11, 2025, at Falkner Baptist Church with Bro. Jeff Moore and Bro. Will Livingston officiating. Visitation will be from 11 AM until time of service on Tuesday January 11, 2025, at Falkner Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Falkner Cemetery.
