David Snipes, 74

April 24, 1950  –  March 24, 2025

Charles David Snipes, known as David, passed away on March 24, 2025, after a valiant battle with a long illness. Born on April 24, 1950, in New Albany, David was the cherished son of Charles Houston and Kathleen Roberts Snipes. He was a proud graduate of East Union High School, where he laid the foundation for a lifetime of hard work and determination. After obtaining his CDL’s, David embarked on a career that would see him behind the wheel of a truck for over five decades. His commitment to his profession was evident to all who knew him, and he continued to drive for Roberts Trucking until his health no longer permitted.

David’s heart belonged to his family. He leaves behind his loving and devoted wife of 52 years, Linda McAlister Snipes, who was his partner in every sense of the word. Together, they raised two wonderful children, Lacosta Sue Watson and Brandon Chad Snipes (Kim), who will carry forward his legacy of kindness and strength. His sister, Sandra Steel (Brooks), will fondly remember the bond they shared throughout their lives. David’s three grandchildren, JC Wilbanks (Holly), John Hayden, and Avery Watson, will miss their grandfather’s gentle presence and the wisdom he imparted.

A man of few words, David was known for his quiet and reserved demeanor. He spoke his mind when necessary, and his candid nature was both respected and admired. Those who knew him understood that his advice was always worth seeking, and his honesty was a guiding light.

David’s love for the outdoors was a testament to his appreciation for life’s simple pleasures. Mowing the yard, hunting, fishing, and just being outside brought him immense joy. He found solace in the tranquility of nature and the freedom of the open road. Family gatherings were the highlight of his life, where he could be found surrounded by his loved ones, sharing stories and creating memories that would last a lifetime.

David is preceded in death by his parents, Charles Houston and Kathleen Roberts Snipes. He leaves behind a family that will forever cherish his memory and honor his life.

As we say goodbye to David Snipes, we celebrate a life well-lived, a journey well-traveled, and a man well-loved. His spirit will forever be a part of the lives he touched, and his memory will be treasured in the hearts of those he leaves behind. David’s life was a testament to the enduring power of love and the strength of family bonds. He will be deeply missed, but his legacy will continue to shine brightly, guiding us through the days ahead.
