Dee Dee Harris, 64

TUPELO – Dee Lake Harris, known by everyone as Dee Dee, died Thursday, January 16, 2025 at the North MS Medical Center in Tupelo. She was 64 years old. Dee Dee was born in Tupelo on June 27, 1960 to the late James Harris and Mary Neill Bowen Harris. A l977 graduate of Tupelo High School, she was a member of Wesley Methodist Church all her life. She was a simple woman who found joy in the simple things. A gentle soul who was always loquacious, joyful but also independent minded and often stubborn, Dee Dee had many loves including the MSU Bulldogs, the band Alabama, the San Francisco 49ers, soap operas especially Days of our Lives and General Hospital, puzzles and old movies. She was a ribbon winning participant in Special Olympics in High School. She was a very personable and social lady, always keeping up and staying involved in the lives of her many friends. Everyone who met Dee Dee adored her. She was the sweet, loving baby sister who was loved and spoiled by her older sisters all her life.
A celebration of life service for Dee Dee will be held at 3 PM Sunday, January 19, 2025, at Wesley Methodist Church in Tupelo with the Mr. Trae Wyatt officiating. Visitation will be from 2:30 PM to service time. Burial will take place at Fairfield Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest beside her parents. Holland Funeral Directors is honored to serve their friends.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Ray, Jr., Jonathan Wilburn, Jonathan Armstrong, Tyler Wilburn, Zack Murrell, Ryan Tackett, and Jim Armstrong. Honorary pallbearers will be Tag Hart, Patrick Wilburn, Jameson Armstrong, Jeremiah Armstrong and Jack Armstrong.
Dee Dee is survived by her sister Joan Harris Smith, and nieces and nephews, including her beloved Jerry Ray, Jr. (Dummy 1), Jonathan Wilburn (Dummy 2), and Carolee Armstrong (Mama Chipmuck) (Aunt Dee Dee’s names for them) and Sommer Thornton; her best friend Nell Barnes and Sandra Dale, her close childhood friend.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Mary Neill Bowen, and her sisters, Carol Manley and Mary Ruth Wilburn, and Florice Mosley, her mother’s best friend, who loved her like she was her own.
