Diamond Rio closes out 2017 Riverfest under cloudy skies
Despite cloudy skies and a little rain from Hurricane Nate’s trek through the Mississippi Gulf Coast area, thousands of fans turned out to see Diamond Rio at this year’s Tallahatchie Riverfest. Fans of all ages packed the area surrounding the RedMed Riverview Stage in Park Along the River.
Diamond Rio, over a career spanning more than 35 years, has sold more than 10 million albums, won both a Grammy and a Dove award, and won Vocal Group of the Year awards six times. Having begun in 1982 as an Opryland attraction, the Grizzly River Boys, the band has undergone several membership changes. However, the current six performers have been working together for nearly 30 years. Their performance of both new and familiar music like “Meet in the Middle” and “Walking Away” did not disappoint their fans. Diamond Rio comes prepared to perform and great show, and is more than capable of doing just that.
Today’s Riverfest activities included a morning fun run and a 5K run, lots of music, a Rubber Duck Regatta on the Tallahatchie River, special activitiies for kids, including a petting zoo and arts and street vendors of arts, crafts, etc.
