Donnie Gene Jarvis, 68
December 9, 1957 – December 15, 2025
Donnie Gene Jarvis, lovingly known to most as “Freck,” entered into the presence of his dear Savior on Monday, December 15, 2025, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, Mississippi, surrounded by the love of his family.
Funeral services honoring Donnie’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 22, 2025, in the Memory Chapel of New Albany Funeral & Cremation Care, with visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Bro. Donnie Shuman and Bro. Jason Brassfield will officiate. Burial will follow in Gerzum Cemetery.
Born on December 9, 1957, in New Albany, Mississippi, Donnie was the son of the late Andrew Jackson “A. J.” Jarvis, Jr. and Addie Jo Hill Jarvis. He was a graduate of New Albany High School and proudly served his country as a member of the United States National Guard. Known for his strong work ethic and tireless nature, Donnie was not one to sit still. He dedicated many years of faithful service in the upholstery department at Ashley Furniture, where he worked until his retirement.
A devoted Christian and faithful member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Donnie’s greatest joy in life was found in his family. His wife of forty-eight years, Mrs. Bettie Jarvis, was truly his soulmate. His children and grandchildren were the light of his life—the apple of his eye—and he cherished every moment spent making memories with them. Whether taking his grandchildren fishing or simply being present in their lives, Donnie made it a priority to invest his time and love in those he held dear. He also shared a special bond with his loyal canine companion, Rickie, who was rarely far from his side.
When not spending time with family, Donnie enjoyed raising his chickens, staying busy with projects around home, and always finding something productive to do. He found contentment in simple things and joy in honest work.
To his family, Donnie was everything—a steady hand during life’s hardest moments, a source of laughter when times were tough, and a faithful Christian example whose life pointed others to Christ. Though his presence will be deeply missed, his legacy of love, faith, and devotion will continue to live on through all who were blessed to know and love him.
In addition to his wife, Bettie Lynn McNeely Jarvis, memories will continue to be cherished by one daughter, Miranda Parker, one son, Nathaniel Luke Jarvis, three sisters, Ann Dixon (Rudy), Irene Keller (Kevin), and Vickie Baker (Tim), four brothers, Larry Jarvis (Gayle), Tim Jarvis (Cheryl), Ronnie Jarvis (Debbie), and Marty Jarvis (Wanda), three grandchildren, Adriane Stovall, Russell Jarvis, and Easton May, and one great grandchild, Della Haire, along with a wide circle of nieces, nephews, family, and friends, and his old faithful dog, Rickie.
He is also preceded in death by one brother, Jerry Jarvis.
