Doris B. Friday, 95

Verona- Doris Branyan Graddy Friday at the age of 95 died Tuesday, February 7, 2023, at her home. She was born June 16, 1927, in Union County to Homer Branyan and Sarah Hamric Branyan. She was a Sherman High School graduate and started her career at South Central Bell in New Albany, she retired after 30 years. Doris was a faithful First Baptist Church of Verona member. She was a proud member and teacher of the Fidelis Sunday School Class and an active member of the Women’s Missionary Union. After the church dissolved, she attended Anchor Church while her health allowed.



Doris is survived by her daughter, Jeanie Friday (Phil Ryan) of Tupelo; daughter-in-law, Jill Graddy Harrison (Bobby) of Madison; six grandchildren, Brandie Palmer (Adam) of Shannon, Katherine Graddy Smith (Kyle) of Minnesota, Will Grady (Breana Hyche) of Madison, Drew Harrison (Brittany) of Ridgeland, Cody Hurst of Oregon; great-granddaughters, Kayle Utley (Josh) of Verona, and Ellie Smith of Minnesota; great-great-granddaughter, Willow Gray of Verona; sister-in-law, Ruth Branyan of Santa Rosa, California; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, William Lambert Graddy, and Cecil E. Friday; son, Bill Graddy; an infant son; daughter, Joy Hurst; grandson, Joshua Harrison; and brother, Wayne Branyan.

Visitation will be 11 a.m. until service time Monday, February 13, 2023, at Pegues, Tupelo.

Services honoring Doris’ life will be 12 p.m. Monday, February 13, 2023, at the Jefferson Street Chapel of Pegues with Rev. Floyd Lamb and Rev. David Hamilton officiating. Burial will be in Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
