Dorothy Catherine Wilder Moorman, 91
May 31, 1934 – July 2, 2025
Dorothy Catherine Wilder Moorman, affectionately known as “Granny Cat” to all who knew and loved her, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at New Albany Health and Rehabilitation Center, surrounded by love and prayer.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 3, 2025, from 8:30 AM until 10:00 AM in the Memory Chapel of New Albany Funeral and Cremation Care. A graveside service will follow at 10:30 AM in Glenfield Memorial Gardens, with the family’s lifelong friend, Mr. Mike Scott, officiating.
Born on May 31, 1934, in Pontotoc County, Mississippi, Ms. Dorothy was the beloved daughter of the late William Erskine and Jewel Elizabeth Tutor Wilder. She spent many years working as an inspector for Munsingwear, later known as Landon, where her diligence and work ethic earned the respect of all who worked beside her.
Dorothy was a woman who found great joy in life’s simple blessings—tending her flower gardens, spending time with her family, and decking the halls of her home from top to bottom every Christmas season. Her holiday spirit, much like her love, knew no bounds.
A faithful member of Glenfield Baptist Church, Ms. Dorothy rarely missed a Sunday, attending worship as long as her health would allow. She built her life in the Glenfield community, where she lovingly raised her three children and formed lasting bonds with neighbors and friends who became like family.
Her presence was a steady and comforting light to many—a life well-lived, rooted in faith, family, and love.
Memories will continue to be cherished by two sons, Ricky Moorman of Etta, MS, and Terry Moorman (Tina) of New Albany, MS, eight grandchildren, Jeremy Bramlett, Ben Moorman (Brandy), Mary Beth Mayer (Chad), Meagan Stanton (Andy), Matthew Moorman, Mykayla Moorman, Paige Allred (Austin), and Adam McMillen (Anna Brooke), and thirteen great grandchildren.
She is also preceded in death by one daughter, Patricia Bramlett, two brothers, Lamar Wilder, and Duane Wilder, and one sister, Melba Lemay.
The family would like to express a special thanks to the staff at New Albany Health and Rehabilition Center, along with Arden Hospice for their unwavering love and care shown to them and Ms. Dorothy during her illness.
