Dorothy Henderson, 92

Dorothy Faye Henderson, a beacon of love and faith, passed away on January 13, 2025, at the age of 92. Born on November 17, 1932, in New Albany, Dorothy’s life was one rich with accomplishments, dedication, and unwavering love for her family.
Dorothy was a lifelong resident of Mississippi. Her final days were spent surrounded by the love and care of her family. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert Henderson, and her dear sister, Helen Bennett. Dorothy’s legacy continues through her devoted son, Brent Henderson, her caring daughter, Sherri Davidson (married to Tracy), her cherished grandchildren, Jordan Smith (Logan) and Kristin Davidson (Jacob), and her treasured great-grandchildren, Latham Reed Smith and Ivy Joycelle Smith.
Dorothy’s early years in New Albany were filled with the joys of small-town life and the close-knit bonds of community. Her pursuit of education led her to obtain an Associate’s Degree, which became the foundation of a career marked by intelligence and leadership. Dorothy retired as Vice President from First National Bank after years of dedicated service and also contributed significantly during her tenure at BNA bank.
Throughout her life, Dorothy remained an active and devoted member of the First Baptist Church of New Albany. Her faith was a cornerstone of her existence, guiding her actions and nurturing her spirit. It was within the church community that Dorothy found strength and fellowship.
Dorothy and her husband, Robert, shared a passion for travel, exploring new places together and creating a tapestry of memories. When not traversing the globe, Dorothy could be found in her garden, tending to her flowers with a gentle touch and a green thumb. The outdoors provided her with a canvas to express her creativity and a space for contemplation and peace.
An avid puzzle enthusiast, Dorothy spent countless hours piecing together jigsaw puzzles, a testament to her patience and attention to detail. This pastime reflected the methodical and thoughtful approach she applied to all aspects of her life.
Services to celebrate the life of Ms. Dorothy will be on Friday, January 17, 2025 at 1:00 P.M. at United Funeral Service with Bro. Andrew Chesteen and Bro. Stanley Huddleston officiating. A visitation will be before the service from 11:00am until service time at 1:00. Burial will be at Vista Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Acts 1:8 Missions Program at First Baptist of New Albany.
