Downtown bank fire alarm scrambles New Albany Fire Department
Multiple units of the New Albany Fire Department (NAFD) responded Friday afternoon, Nov. 17, to a call to Regions Bank on Bankhead St. downtown.
There had been a report by bank workers of smoke or “something that smelled like smoke.
Firemen could find no fire as they carefully checked all parts of the the two-story building.
One senior fireman did detect a smokey odor coming from a part of the Regions heating and cooling system. Heating systems producing a peculiar smell, especially when they are first operated each season, is not rare.
Heating and air workers were checking out the system as this posting was written.
