Drake Wortman, 61

October 2, 1963 — April 4, 2025

Saltillo- Drake Robert Wortman, 61, passed away Friday, April 4, 2025, at his home in Saltillo. He was born October 2, 1963, in Chicago, Illinois, to Welton Lee Wortman and Barbara VandenBerg Wortman.

A lifelong adventurer at heart, it was the National Geographic that first drew him to the South. He spent ten years working at Toyota and previously owned a construction business. Before his health declined, he attended NorthStar Church where he spent many hours assisting with construction of the current building. He enjoyed cycling, hiking, and traveling, always eager to explore new places and experiences. At home, he was an avid cook who enjoyed baking and working with his smoker—he took pride in preparing meals and sharing them with friends and family.

Drake is survived by his wife of over six years, Tracey Holliday Wortman of Saltillo; three children; one stepson; his mother, Barbara Perry; and his caregiver, Ailey Shadburn.

He was preceded in death by his father, Welton Lee Wortman, and one brother.
