Earnest Dean Spann, 52

Earnest “Dean” Spann, age 52, of Tupelo, passed away peacefully on September 25, 2024, at North Mississippi Medical Center Hospital Hospice. Born on April 23, 1972, in Macon, MS, Dean was the son of Willie James Spann, Jr., and Ernestine Long Spann.
A proud graduate of Tupelo High School, Dean went on to attend Mississippi Valley State University. He later worked as a finance manager, bringing his skills and dedication to his career. Dean was a man full of life, known for his unwavering love for the Dallas Cowboys, his passion for travel, entertaining his family and friends, and his talent for playing dominoes. Anyone who knew Dean would also know his humor and his famous line about needing $5.00.
Dean is survived by his loving mother, Ernestine Ratliff, and his stepfather, Tommy Ratliff; his sons, Colby Spann (Chantelle) and Dillon Spann; and his granddaughter, Kacie. He also leaves behind his sisters, Tena Holmes (Travis); half-sisters Shannon Hogan and Alexis Brooks; half-brother Charles Gill (Laketta); and three special nephews, Devaughntae Spann (Delia), Allen Spann, and Travis Holmes, Jr. and a great nephew Dustin Spann.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 27, 2024, from 1:00-2:00 p.m., with the funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m. at Associated Family Funeral Home in Tupelo, MS. Pallbearers will be Delano Bowens, C. Tommy Rainey, F. Bernard Walker, Christopher Williams, Devaughntae Spann, Allen Spann, Charles Gill, and Travis Holmes.
Dean will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. Associated Family Funeral Home is honored to assist the Spann/Ratliff family during this difficult time.
