Edmund Thomas, 46
October 2, 1979 – April 2, 2026
Edmund Ross Thomas, known lovingly to family and friends as Eddie Thomas, passed away on April 2, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on October 2, 1979, in New Albany, and he lived a life marked by hard work, devotion to family, and a warm spirit that touched many who knew him.
Eddie was a self-employed contractor who was always busy and always moving. His tireless nature earned him the nickname “Eddie Rabbit,” a name that fit him well because he was rarely still for long. He took great pride in his work and was known for being handy, dependable, and willing to help wherever he was needed. For more than 15 years, he also mowed the cemetery at Flat Rock, a task he carried out faithfully and with care. Though he valued his work deeply, nothing in his life meant more to him than his sons, whom he loved above all else.
He was a Christian and a member of Parks Baptist Church, though in recent times he had been attending Flat Rock Baptist Church. His faith was an important part of his life and provided strength throughout his journey. Eddie enjoyed the simple pleasures that brought him peace and happiness, including fishing, tractors, and gardening. He also loved his basset hound, Winston, and his cat, Jeffery, both of whom were dear companions to him.
Eddie will be remembered as a funny, friendly, and handy man whose presence brought comfort and laughter to those around him. He had a way of making people feel welcome, and his easygoing nature left a lasting impression on family, friends, and neighbors alike. His memory will live on in the many lives he touched through his kindness, his work ethic, and his devotion to those he loved.
He is survived by his mother, Serena Ann Burns Thomas; his devoted wife, Amanda Hall Thomas; his two treasured sons, Samuel and Carson Thomas; his siblings, Jessica and Billy Thomas and wife Amanda, his mother-in-law Margaret Hall, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Jesse and Paula Hall, one niece, Delilah Thomas; and two nephews, Gavin and Caden Hall. He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Thomas; his father-in-law, Kenneth Hall; and his grandparents, Jim and Nelma Burns, and Elane Floyd and Elsie Thomas.
Services to honor his life will be on Tuesday, April 7 at 2:00pm. Visitation will be on Monday evening from 5:00-8:00pm and again on Tuesday from 1:00-2:00pm. Burial will be at Community Cemetery
