Elmon Lee Reaves, 92

October 26, 1932 – November 21, 2024

Elmon Lee Reaves was born on October 26, 1932, to the late Andrew Reaves and Fannie Mae Gore Reaves in Benton County, MS.  On Thursday, November 21, 2024, he transitioned at Magnolia Regional Health Center in Corinth, MS.

Elmon accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Everett Chapel M.B. Church in Michigan City, MS. He worked in maintenance at Burny Brothers Bakery in Chicago, IL.  Elmon was an outgoing individual who served many hats within the church: usher, deacon, maintenance, and lawn care.  He enjoyed being around his family and friends. He was also a fan of the Chicago White Sox baseball team.

Elmon leaves to cherish his loving memories: two sons: Elmon Reaves, Jr. (Dria) of Chicago, IL and Tommy Moore (Angela) of Sioux Falls, SD; one bonus son/nephew: Ray Tipler; six daughters:  Jannie Burks (Dan) of Carrollton, GA, Nilene Woods Meeks (Donald) of Memphis, TN, Evelyn Noble of Harvey, IL, Teresa Fondern of Kissimmee, FL, Jacqueline Reaves of Norfolk, VA, and Paula Clark (Errol) of Chicago, IL; one bonus daughter: Stacey Noble of Markham, IL; one brother: Frank Reaves of Ashland, MS; two sisters: Hattie Hampton and Fannie Tipler both of Ashland, MS; twenty grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren; two sister in laws: Gloria Reaves of Glenwood, IL, and Rose Reaves of Memphis, TN; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Elmon was preceded in death by his loving parents: Andrew Reaves and Fannie Mae Gore Reaves; wife: Ethel B. Reaves; three brothers: Willie Lee Poole, Andrew Reaves, Jr., and Earnest Reaves; and one sister: Josey Bee Hampton.

Visitation will be held  Friday, November 29, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., at Everett Chapel Church, 10939 Hwy 72, Michigan City, MS 38647

Body will lie in state from 9:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., and Funeral Service will be at 9:30 a.m., on Saturday,  November 30, 2024, at Greenwood M.B. Church, 4854 Lamar Road, Holly Springs, MS 38642

Burial will take place at New Life Christian Center Cemetery, Ashland, MS
