Evan Elijah Lee Delvridge, 22

July 29, 2004 – August 4, 2026

On July 29, 2004, God granted earth a glimpse of glory, when Evan Elijah Lee Delvridge was born to Jody & Alicia Delvridge. Alicia chose his name with purpose and his name means: Evan – Young Warrior; Elijah – The Lord is my God; Lee – 3 before me, Alfred Lee, Robert Lee and Jody Lee.

Evan was the youngest of seven sons for Jody, and the only biological son for Alicia, the apple of his momma’s eye,

a real good son.

He was a brilliant student in Memphis City Schools and Memphis Business Academy until 9th grade, when he began homeschooling and graduated high school in September 2021. Evan was highly intelligent, chosen the “Best Political Mind” in his middle school graduation.

Evan was a writer, a thinker, not a talker. He wrote his first contract at the age of 6, an agreement for something he wanted from his mom.

A gifted rapper, Evan only recorded one song he co-wrote, at the age of 11 with his best friend, Tamarion Anderson & their teacher, Twigga (Tigaz, The Struggles of a Black Man, it’s on Soundcloud, go listen).

Evan didn’t seek notoriety, he was highly critical of his own work, demanded perfection in his flow. So the world never again heard what his family heard coming from his room, a raw, rhythmic, guttural, mesmerizing genius.

Evan had a deep sense of right & wrong. He liked things orderly. He wouldn’t participate in crowds, chaos, confusion. He preferred peace & quiet. His home, his small family. If he spoke to you, you were blessed.

Evan left us too soon, but his memory is cherished by all who loved him. His parents, Jody Sr. and Alicia Delvridge, his big sister Karrye Joy, whom he fiercely loved and protected, his sister Kristian Jada, his brothers: Derrick White, Jody Delvridge, Jr. Jarron (Jessica) Delvridge, Javarron Delvridge, Jody Delvridge, Il and Jadarius Delvridge Johnson, His God Mommy Margaret Tolbert; His big Uncle Carlos Raimey, Uncles Kelon Raimey, Sr. Robert Delvridge, Andre Howell and cousin uncle Sammie Matthews, His Aunties, Felicia Swift, Gloria Harrison, Cornelia Howell, Lois Davis, Eunice Jarrett, Juanita Mitchell, Evelyn Delvridge, Bobra Delvridge, Auntee Cousins: Lacittia Humphrey, Shimon Matthews.

He has waiting in Glory: his great grandparents: Elijah (Bunt) & Carrie Delvridge, his grandparents, Annie Rainey, Alfred & Delois Echols, Robert & Mary Delvridge, Aunts Lillie B, Joyce & Lettie; Uncles A.C. James, Larry and Cousin Jasmine and Tee Tee Warren.

Evan has a cadre of nieces/nephews and cousins, Kamara Raimey, Kerrick & Dardorick Humphery were his closest cousins, but he hasn’t made a new friend since he was 6, so those guys are FAMILY: Tamarrio Anderson, LeDerion Upshaw, Zachary Leesur, EJ Boyce, Lenzell Boyce, Keyon Brown & Kenneth Brown.
