Evelyn Freeman Beaty, 86
March 19, 1938 – November 23, 2024
Evelyn Freeman Beaty, known affectionately as Evelyn to her friends and family, passed away peacefully on November 23, 2024, at the age of 86. Born on March 19, 1938, in Union County, MS, she was the daughter of James V. Freeman and Ludie Pauline Greenwood Freeman. Evelyn’s life was marked by her unwavering kindness and the love she shared with those around her.
Evelyn’s journey through life was one of dedication and service. After a fulfilling 30-year career with BellSouth, she continued to contribute to her community through her work at the Justice Court and the Bankhead Flower Shop. Her commitment to her work was paralleled only by her involvement in various associations, where she made lasting contributions and formed enduring friendships. She was a member of First Baptist Church in New Albany, MS.
Beyond her professional life, Evelyn found joy in the simple pleasures. She was a devoted fan of basketball, rarely missing games played by the Ingomar and New Albany teams. Her presence in the stands was a testament to her support for local sports and her love for the game.
At her core, Evelyn was a family woman. She leaves behind her beloved husband, Reuben Beaty, who stood by her side, sharing in the joys and sorrows of life. Her memory will be cherished by her brother, Gene Freeman, and sister-in-law, Gail Freeman. She was a special aunt to her nieces and nephews: Steve Freeman, Terry Freeman, Lisa Norwood, Tina Spencer, Kent Freeman, Janet Negen, and Jeff Bennett, all of whom will miss her guidance and warmth. Evelyn’s legacy also lives on through her step-children, Dale Beaty (Rose), Kenneth Beaty (Gina), and Vickie Jenkins; her four step-grandchildren; and nine step-great-grandchildren, who will continue to be inspired by her loving spirit.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her first husband, Bobby Robbins; her sister, Martha Bagwell; her brother, Devon Freeman; and her sister-in-law, Jean R. Freeman. They have now welcomed her with open arms into eternal peace.
Those who knew Evelyn will remember her as the embodiment of love, friendliness, and thoughtfulness. Her ability to make everyone around her feel valued and cared for was one of her most remarkable traits. Evelyn’s smile could light up a room, and her generous spirit was felt by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
As we bid farewell to Evelyn Freeman Beaty, we celebrate a life well-lived—a life filled with love, laughter, and an unwavering commitment to family and community. She will be deeply missed, but her legacy of kindness and compassion will continue to influence those who were fortunate enough to cross paths with her.
