New Albany, MS- On Wednesday, November 9, 2016, Alison Moore, NAHS teacher and FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) sponsor, left New Albany headed to Orlando, FL with 23 students. The purpose of the trip was to participate in two Disney Y.E.S. (Youth Education Series) programs.

Disney Youth Education Series programs take place in the information-rich setting of the Disney Parks. It give students – and their teachers – a hands-on, educational adventure.  The Future Business leaders participated in a collection of accredited, standards-based, guided field studies in the area of Leadership Development.

The students had to practice teamwork, critical thinking and problem-solving skills. They had to step out of their comfort zones as Disney cast members took them on a memorable journey using the magic of Disney to make learning even more impactful.

Something for everyone in FBLA

The students and chaperones completed two programs during their stay, “Learning Teamwork through Improvisation” and “Photo Storytelling.” Both programs focused on leadership, innovation, risk taking, and teamwork. The Disney cast members emphasized the importance of working together with a positive attitude to complete every task they gave the students.

This trip provided the students many valuable life-lessons. From planning, meeting deadlines and raising money, to learning how to navigate through an airport and read park maps, the FBLA students made memories and connections that would not have been possible without going on this journey.
