Sunday morning fire destroys Myrtle residence

,

The Myrtle Fire Department responded to a call to 1666 Hwy. 178 West in Myrtle about 4:05 a.m. Sunday.

Myrtle Assistant Chief Ted Harris said they arrived to find a residence fully involved in fire.

North Haven, West Union and New Albany Rescue were called as well and New Albany dispatched a fire unit until it could be verified that everyone was out of the house and that call was cancelled.

Units were at the scene several hours and the fire rekindled later as well.

Harris said the cause is under investigation. No one was injured but the structure is a total loss.

The fire rekindled due to the amount of debris and was still smoldering at noon Sunday.
