Franklin Lawton Norwood, 46
November 9, 1978 – November 12, 2024
Franklin Lawton Norwood passed away at his home in Etta, MS on Tuesday morning, November 12, 2024. Affectionately known as Frank, he was born on November 9, 1978, to Debbie McNabb Norwood and Terry Norwood in Somerville, TN. Frank lived most of his life in Union County, but was known to travel extensively for work and friendships. Frank graduated with honors from West Union Attendance Center in 1997. After graduation he attended Northeast Community College. He was a member of Salem Baptist Church.
Frank was a problem solver of technology in many work areas and an account representative with North MS Medical Center. His kind spirit was reflected in all his work and relationships.
Flowers were one of his hobbies and he used his creative abilities in flower design, working at the Blue Rose and other floral shops. He was an avid reader, a lover of all things Dolly Parton, knowledgeable in many areas, and enjoyed watching classical movies as a past time.
As a faithful friend, Frank was always willing to help others, especially with his electronic skills, making it seem simple. The delicious Sunday dinners his mother prepared were a favorite time for him, with family together, sharing stories and laughter, especially with his nephews. He lovingly nicknamed them Lemon Drop for Lem and Shump Shump for James Norman; as was humorous nature he created nicknames for everyone. Time with his nephews brought him immense joy, laughter and love, as it did for the boys, who will miss him greatly.
Although his journey on this earth has ended, Frank’s kindness and caring spirit will endure in the lives of those he loved dearly. Cherishing his memory are his parents Debbie and Terry Norwood; his sister, Dr. Allison Tate (Josh), his nephews, Mason Lem, and James Norman Tate; his brother, Jacob (Kristin) and nieces Reagan Bogle (Colby) and Laykin Simpson (Bailey); his Uncle Josh McNabb (Farrah) and cousins Seth, Addison, and Katelyn; his Uncle Robert and cousins Toby and Ben; his Uncle John McNabb; 3 special friends Tammy McCarley, Dustin Cross, and Robert Dashti. Family members preceding him in death were his grandparents, Alice and Franklin McNabb and Esther and Stanley Norwood, with his beloved “Granny Esther” having a great influence in his life.
Frank’s life will be remembered and memorialized with a private service at 10:00 am on Friday, November 15, 2024 at Philadelphia Baptist Church with Brother Josh Tate and Brother Randy Bynum officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Philadelphia Baptist Church Cemetery fund, County Road 255, Etta, MS 38627 or to Celebrate Recovery at Bethlehem Church of New Albany care of Dr. Jeff Lawrence, 1560 County Road 81 New Albany, MS 38652.
