Fred Lee, 79

November 5, 1946  –  February 7, 2026

Plantersville-Fred was an ordinary man but was extraordinary to those who knew him. It is with great sadness that we are announcing the passing of our constant, Fred Eugene Lee, on February 7, 2026, at the age of 79. He was born November 5, 1946, to his parents Mitchell & Lavern Lee. He lived his entire life in Plantersville, MS, and graduated from Nettleton High School in 1965. He married Barbara Johnson Lee on May 1, 1970. For 55 years, Fred was her constant; and his family’s rock. God blessed Fred with a daughter Tracey, a son David, a daughter-in-law Meghanne and grandson Ryan. They were his blessings and the center of his life. He enjoyed friends, fast cars, vintage vehicles, reading his Bible and a good western, music, riding his Harley, and a good ribeye and a plate of fried potatoes. He belonged to Center Hill Baptist Church and was retired from UPS after 30 years. Fred was an honest man that we could always rely on.

A celebration of Fred’s life will be Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at 2:00 pm at Siloam Church (96 CR 4101, Marietta, MS 38856). The first visitation will be held on Tuesday February 10, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Holland Funeral Directors-Tupelo. Prior to the service, on Wednesday the time of visit will be from 1:00 till service time at 2:00 pm. Holland Funeral Directors are honored to be serving the friends and family.

He is survived by his devoted family, and his extended family: Joyce Waddle, Randle & Reba Downs, Larry & Daralene Johnson, Ricky & Judy Boyd, Tommy & Lura Schumpert, Milton & Betty Schumpert and Jimmy & Brenda Palmer. He is, also, survived by a host of nieces and nephews, his beloved beagle Buddy, and a host of friends that he called family.

Those waiting to welcome him home are his parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles. Thermon & Gretchen Johnson, Richard & Diane Johnson, Debra Johnson, and many friends.

His close friends serving as pallbearers will be Mack Peters, Don Jones, Dave Estes, Dennis Alred, Matt Graham, James Thornton, Jimmy Northington and John Foster.

Fred was an honest man who kept his word. His love was often found in the unsaid, in his consistent presence. In our grief we find comfort in the love he brought to our lives.

“To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.”

2 Corinthians 5:8
