Fredrick Tillman Martin, known to many as Fred, passed away on May 18, 2026, at his residence in New Albany, Mississippi, at the age of 63.

Fred was born on June 20, 1962, in Grenada, Mississippi, and he carried the values of his upbringing with him throughout his life. He was the son of the late Walter E. Martin and the late Ruby Lindley Lowery. He was also preceded in death by his twin brother, William Martin, and by his sisters, Charlotte Wilder and Charlene Hill. Their memories remained close to his heart throughout his life.

Fred was a familiar and well-loved presence in the New Albany community. He was known for his friendly nature, his kind spirit, and the easy way he made others feel welcome. Those who knew him will remember a man who valued friendship, enjoyed conversation, and brought warmth to the lives of those around him. His life was marked by the simple but lasting gifts of kindness, loyalty, and good company.

He attended North East Community College on a football scholarship, an accomplishment that reflected both his athletic ability and his dedication. Fred was proud of his love for Ole Miss sports, especially football, and he followed the game with enthusiasm. Sports remained one of the many things that brought him joy throughout his life.

Fred worked at Ashley Furniture, where he was respected by those who knew him and appreciated for his steady presence and work ethic. Outside of work, he enjoyed cooking and spending time with friends. He especially loved dogs, and his beloved dog Pumpkin held a special place in his heart. These interests reflected the comfort he found in home, companionship, and the everyday moments that made life meaningful.

He leaves behind two sisters, Sherry Cannizzaro and Ruby Williams, along with seven nieces and three nephews who will cherish his memory. He is also survived by his lifelong friend, Mike Spivey, whose friendship was a lasting part of his life. Fred’s family and friends will remember him with love and gratitude for the many ways he touched their lives.

Fredrick Tillman Martin will be remembered as a friendly and kind man whose presence was deeply felt by those around him.
