“Be still and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.” Psalm 46:10
On Saturday, February 15, 2025, Mr. Gale Hampton Campbell, 86, resident of New Albany, departed this life at North Mississippi Medical Center.
A Memorial Service honoring the life of Mr. Campbell will be at 11 AM, Tuesday, February 18, 2025, in the sanctuary of the First Methodist Church in New Albany, with Bro. Chris Carter officiating. Visitation will be from 10 AM until time of service in the Wesley Hall of First Methodist Church, New Albany, on Tuesday, February 18, 2025.
Mr. Campbell was born July 25, 1938, in Shaw, MS, to the late Ben and Berniece Verner Campbell. He received his education from Drew High School and was a 1962 graduate of Mississippi State University, receiving a bachelor’s degree in agriculture. On June 10, 1962, he married his beloved wife, Mrs. Betty Livingston Campbell, who survives.
A faithful member of First Methodist Church in New Albany, and servant of the Lord, he was an active member of the Buzzy Clayton Sunday School class and was a leader of various positions in his church. A hard-working man his entire life, he retired from MS Chemical Corporation after twenty-six years and later he was employed with B&B Concrete for eighteen years, until his retirement in 2014. A Boy Scout Master for fifteen years, Mr. Campbell saw thirty-three young men receive their Eagle Scout Award under his leadership, and he was extremely proud of this accomplishment.
His love for his family was unending and he enjoyed sharing every opportunity he could to be with them, especially his much-adored grandchildren and his great-granddaughter. Mr. Campbell’s hobbies included woodworking, yardwork, gardening, and watching Mississippi State University sports. His life will be remembered by the joy, love and laughter that he brought to others and the valor he displayed until his passing. A loving husband, father, brother, devoted grandfather and great-grandfather, he will be greatly missed.
In addition to his wife of sixty-two years, Betty Livingston Campbell, he leaves two sons, Todd Campbell (Teresa) and Mitchell (Mitch) Campbell, both of New Albany, two sisters, Glenice Beach and Johnnie Roberts, one brother, Jerry Campbell, six grandchildren, Ian Campbell, Avery Stanfield (Hunter), Bo Campbell, Isabelle Campbell, J.D. Campbell (Josephine) and Josie Campbell and one great-granddaughter, Blakely Stanfield.
He is preceded in death by one brother, Larry Campbell.
