Free community gospel singing planned for May 22

Retired Fifth District Supervisor Benny Rakestraw is organizing a free gospel singing to be held May 22.

Rakestraw, known for his singing with the gospel group “Faithfully His,” said people have been asking him to put something together for some time.

“They’ve just been shut up too long and want something to do,” he said earlier.

The singing will be at 6 p.m. Saturday, May 22, at the East Union Football Field. Admission will be free and everyone is invited.

Singers will include Pat, Alan and Others, Locust Grove Singers, The Robertson Girl Singers, Amanda Moore and Friends, Parks Church Singers, Faithfully His and Sherry Jones.

The concession stand will be open with proceeds going to the East Union football team.

Rakestraw said people may want to bring their lawn chairs if they would prefer that to sitting in the bleachers.
