Harriet Carolyn Clements, 88
September 18, 1937 – April 1, 2026
Greenwood/Tupelo-Carolyn Kealhofer Clements, one of the South’s grand dames, received her wings and will now enjoy eternal life. Carolyn was born in Blackhawk, Ms. in the Mississippi Delta on Sept. 18, 1937, the only child of Leon Rivers and Johnnie Lou O’Keefe. She grew up there and lived much of her life in the Delta. She spent much of her working life as a Secretary for Yazoo Oil Co. but her best loved work was that of a homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved her homes, took pride in decorating them to the 9’s and making them warm, inviting places for her family and friends.
A Godly woman, she enjoyed her spiritual development over her lifetime through the ministries of the United Methodist Church. While living in Greenwood, she was an active and faithful member of St. Johns United Methodist Church. After moving to Tupelo 15 years ago, she attended St. Luke United Methodist Church. A Proverbs 31 woman-Carolyn selflessly loved everyone unconditionally, loved her Lord and took pride in her role in the spiritual lives of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, whom she led to Christ at a young age.
A great cook, “Mimmy” found fulfillment in her family, especially her grands. Well acquainted with grief having been predeceased by her husband, Sam, and her two daughters, Marva Kent and Kemily O’Keefe Taylor, Carolyn found a quiet grace that allowed her hope to live a dignified, purposed filled life-always anticipating the day she would join them eternally when her eyes closed in death. She loved God’s creation, all birds especially humming birds and sitting in her garage at her Tupelo home with good conversation with friends.
A service celebrating her life will take place at 11 AM Saturday, April 4, 2026 at Holland Funeral Directors-Tupelo with her Tupelo and Greenwood pastor, Rev. Rob Gill, officiating. Visitation will be from 10 AM-service time Sat. only at Holland-Tupelo Chapel, which is honored to be serving their friends. The committal will be private.
“Mimmy” is survived by her grandchildren, Emily Dill and husband, Andrew of Mantachie and Taylor Kent of Denver, Colorado; her great grandchildren, Carolyn “Carol Beth” Dill, Clara Dill and Cayson Dill and a special niece, Wanda Truxillo; other family and a host of friends.
Condolences may be e mailed to hollandfuneraldirectors@comcast.net. Memorials may be made to Ellisville State Hospital, 1101 Highway 11 South Ellisville, MS 39437. In remembrance of Kemily Taylor
