Hazel Dawn Huneycutt, 95
December 8, 1930 — March 26, 2025
Knoxville- Hazel Dawn Murley Huneycutt, 95, passed away on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at Morning Pointe in Knoxville. Born as one of twelve children to Robert Hamilton Murley and Nina Wallis Murley, Dawn embraced a life of warmth, service, and dedication to her family and community. As a longtime hairstylist, she was well loved by her clients, forming lasting friendships through her years of work.
A devoted member of Central Baptist Church of Bearden, Dawn found great joy in her faith and church community. She served as the co-director of her singles Sunday school class and volunteered regularly for Wednesday evening meals, always willing to lend a helping hand. Her church family became a cherished part of her life, offering her support and companionship, especially her dear friend Louise Owens, who provided kindness and care after Dawn’s move to Morning Pointe.
Survivors include her brothers, Harold Murley (Joyce), and Archie Murley both of Baldwyn; nephew, Ronnie Johnson (Trish) who assisted in many ways for many years; additional nieces and nephews, Barbara, Benita, Carl, Denise, Karen, Nina Jo, Ricky, Sandra, Shani, Sydney, and Tiffany; and many other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Eunice, Eula, Evelyn and Linda; and brothers, E.J., Leland, Dennis, Pascal and Breland.
Hazel’s life and memory will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 2025, in a stateroom of Pegues Funeral Directors. Burial will follow at Lebanon Church Cemetery near Baldwyn.
