Helen Gann, 94

January 17, 1930 — November 25, 2024

Tupelo – Helen Ophilea Gann passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, November 25, 2024. She was born in Fayette County, Alabama on January 17, 1930. She was the daughter of B. L. Nicholson and Eunice McDonald Nicholson. Helen was a proud homemaker who cherished her time with family. She was a wonderful cook and would often provide home-cooked meals to others. She and her late husband, James “Hershel” Gann, were married for 61 years before his death. Helen enjoyed spending time in her garden, tending flowers, and taking care of her manicured yard. Helen was an active member of Eggville Free Will Baptist Church before her health declined.



Helen is survived by her son, the Rev. Dr. Gerald Gann and his wife, Brenda, of Tupelo; grandchildren, James “Paul” Gann and his wife, Angela, of Mooreville, and Jennifer “Leanna” Whitehead and her husband, Chris of Dorsey; great-grandchildren, Kerstin Franks and her husband, Ben, Rylee Whitehead and his wife, Claire, Gavin Gann, Gabriel Gann, and Kaytlin Shields; and her husband, Tanner, and great-great-grandchildren, Ryder Franks, and Navy-Lee Franks.

She was in death by her husband, Hershel Gann, and her daughter, Kathy Gann.

Visitation will be one hour prior to services on Friday, November 29, 2024, at the church.

Services honoring the lives of Helen and her daughter, Kathy, will be held 11 a.m. Friday, November 29, 2024, at Eggville Free Will Baptist Church with her son, the Rev. Dr. Gerald Gann, officiating. Burial will be at the Memorial Gardens in Winfield, Alabama.

Pallbearers will be Paul Gann, Chris Whitehead, Gavin Gann, Rylee Whitehead, Eddie Tompson, and Joe Lolley.

Honorary pallbearers will be Gabriel Gann and Ryder Franks.

Memorials may be made to Eggville Free Will Baptist Church.
