Ida Bell Berry, 92

Ida Bell Berry was born on December 15, 1933, to the late Sammie Pulliam and Katie Pulliam in Houlka, Mississippi. She departed this life peacefully on August 26, 2026, at her home, surrounded by her loved ones.
Ida Bell was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Her sweet and gentle presence will truly be missed, along with her heartwarming smile. She enjoyed cooking, canning jelly, sewing quilts, watching wrestling and soap operas, and watching church services. She devoted much of her life to caring for her home and family as a homemaker and stay-at-home mother.
At an early age, Ida Bell confessed her faith and accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She was a faithful member of Thompson Chapel CME Church in Houlka, Mississippi.
Ida Bell was the loving mother of nine children. She shared 68 years of marriage with her beloved husband, Lee Aron Berry, before his passing in April 2020.
She leaves to cherish her loving memory four sons: Lee (Georgia Mae) Berry of Houlka, Mississippi; Claywood (Mary) Berry of Houston, Mississippi; Glenn (Walter Mae) Berry of Pontotoc, Mississippi; and Charles Berry of Houlka, Mississippi; four daughters: Luray Holbrook of Grand Rapids, Michigan; Ruby (Troy) McAlister, Florence Berry, and Geneta (William) Johnson, all of Houlka, Mississippi; one sister, Lois Garrett of Pontotoc, Mississippi; three brothers: Melvin (Levada) Pulliam, Leroy Pulliam, and Charlie D. (Iris) Pulliam all of Houlka, Mississippi; 28 grandchildren; 62 great-grandchildren; 39 great-great-grandchildren; two special daughters-in-law, Ruby Berry of Tupelo, Mississippi, and Lois Berry of Pontotoc, Mississippi; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Ida Bell also raised two of her grandchildren, Cassandra (Chandell) Judd and Lee Berry, Jr., both of Houlka, Mississippi, whom she loved and raised as her own children.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sammie Pulliam and Katie Pulliam; her grandmother, Minnie Isbell; her beloved husband, Lee Aron Berry; and her precious daughter, Gracie Mae Terrell, who departed this life on August 25, 2026, just one day before her mother. She was also preceded in death by her siblings: Etoy Pulliam, Mary Nell Pulliam, Otis Isbell, and Willie Van Pulliam; her two precious nieces, Diane Powell and Louise Thomas, whom she loved as sisters; two special daughters-in-law, Mary Berry and Dolly Berry; her son-in-law, Bobbie Holbrook; and her great-grandchild, Ja’Zaiyah Grace Johnson.
Ida Bell leaves behind a beautiful legacy of love, faith, family, and cherished memories. Her gentle spirit, loving heart, heartwarming smile, and devotion to her family will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Visitation will be Saturday, August 29, 2026, from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM at Payton Mortuary. Funeral service will be Sunday, August 30, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Thompson Chapel CME Church, 937 County Road 308, Houlka, MS 38850.
