Jake Davis, 72

July 26, 1951 – June 11, 2024

Hernando-Formerly of the Richmond Community—Jake Davis, passed away Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at the Baptist-DeSoto Hospital in Southaven.  He was 72 years old.  Jake was born July 26, 1951 in Tupelo, the son of Charles Quitman Davis and Ruth Ann Walters Davis.  After his high school graduation, he proudly served his country in the Mississippi National Guard.  He worked as a general contractor and painter before his retirement. Many will describe Jake’s personality as larger than life.  He was active in both his church and community, touching many lives along the way.  One of his greatest accomplishments included the creation of the Richmond Volunteer Fire Department which he served not only as a firefighter, but also as Fire Chief.   Jake was a longtime member of Civitan and was elected Governor for the North Half of the State of Mississippi.  Many will remember Jake’s volunteer work with children as Boy Scout troop leader and softball coach.    Jake also enjoyed traveling, singing, and woodwork. The many ways he served others are far too numerous to recount.  In addition to all of his accomplishments, his greatest joy came from his children and grandchildren.  His love for them was immeasurable.  Jake is remembered by his family as a wonderful father and grandfather, always taking care of them, providing for them, while also teaching them to enjoy life and to love the Lord.

Jake leaves behind his two daughters, Heather Hunter (Frank) and Angela Scott, all of Hernando; bonus daughter, Cinthya Paiva from Brazil and bonus son Niklas Mairose from Germany; five grandchildren, Kolton Scott, Gabby Hunter, Cooper Hunter, Avery Scott, and Ryland Hunter; his brother, Charles Davis (Sandy) of Tupelo; and two nieces, Michelle Getz and Katie Dunivan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Ruth Davis; a sister, Kathy Gardinier, and a nephew, Michael Davis.
