James J. Downs, 82

November 7, 1942 – September 6, 2025

James J. Downs (82) passed away Saturday, September 6, 2025 at Longwood Nursing and Rehab in Booneville. He owned and operated Downs Printing in Booneville for many years. He was an Apostolic minister and a veteran of the U.S. National Guard. He enjoyed drawing, painting, watching football and spending time with his family.

James is survived by his wife of 61 years, Janice Downs of Booneville; his son, David Downs (Lisa) of Olive Branch; his daughter, Michelle Edge (Greg) of Booneville; his sister, Brenda Whiteside of Indiana; his grandchildren, Krischelle Tharp (Michael), Jake Downs (Lexie) and Spencer Downs (Eliyah) and his great grandchildren, Braxton Edge and Octavia Tharp.

He was preceded in death by his father, JV Downs and his mother, Eula Mae Wilson.

Pallbearers are David Downs, Jake Downs, Spencer Downs, Braxton Edge, Greg Edge and Michael Tharp.

Services are 2 pm Friday, September 12, 2025 in the Booneville Chapel of Kesler Funeral Home with Bro. John Cagle officiating. Burial will take place in the Booneville Cemetery. Visitation will be 1-2 pm Friday in the Booneville Chapel of Kesler Funeral Home.
