Blue Springs—James Allan Russell passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, January 26, 2025 at his home in Blue Springs. He was 77 years old. James was born January 5, 1948 in Dallas, Texas to James Marr and Betty Reed. After his high school graduation he served his country proudly in the United States Air Force. He then earned an associates degree and then he made his way to North Mississippi. A highly skilled certified auto mechanic, James worked over 40 years here in Tupelo for Dossett Big4 and Blackman Buick. In 2001 he married his wife, Sherry, and they have enjoyed the past 23 years together. Making family his number one priority was always evidenced by the time he enjoyed spending with his children and grandchildren. James also had a “green thumb” and found satisfaction in tending his vegetable garden which he then turned into the delicious meals he cooked himself for his family.

Let behind to cherish his memory include his wife, Sherry Whitehead Russell of Blue Springs; two children, Jenny Bain and husband, Tony, of Saltillo and Jake Russell of Union County; stepsons, Christopher Whitehead and wife, Jennifer of Hernando and Jason Whitehead and wife, Amanda, of Pontotoc; three grandchildren, Devin Bain, Lennon and Riley Whitehead; and two step-grandchildren, Emma and Landon Baldwin; his brother, Russell Marr; three sisters, Vicki Steele, Elleen McLean, and Kathy Embry, all of Dallas, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Jamie Russell.
