James Stark, 59
April 10, 1966 – December 6, 2025
Everett James Stark, lovingly known as James to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on December 6, 2025, at the NMMC at the age of 59 in Tupelo, MS after a brief illness. Born on April 10, 1966, in New Albany, MS, James was a man of integrity, kindness, and an unwavering love for his family and God.
James was the cherished son of Maxine Rodgers Stark and the late Wayne (Ed) Stark. His life was a testament to the values instilled in him by his parents and the close-knit community of New Albany. James was a devoted husband to Patricia Holston Stark, his wife of thirty-two years, and a loving father to his children, James Stark (Erika) of Gluckstat, MS, Tyler Stark of New Albany, MS, and Tiffany Moreland of Carrollton, AL. His grandchildren, Kaydince Stark, Zanna Little, and Miraha Tunnel, brought immense joy to his life.
In addition to his immediate family, James leaves behind his mother, Maxine Stark; his brother, Stacy Stark (Rachel); and a host of extended family members including Don Stiner, Joe Graves (Lawanda), James (Jim) Taylor, Donald Easterling, and Lois Ann VanderWoude, all of whom will miss his gentle presence. He was preceded in death by his father, his grandparents, Thomas and Ozella Rodgers, and John and Lessie Stark.
James was a 1985 graduate of Blue Mountain High School. James proudly served his country as a member of the Mississippi National Guard, retiring after twenty-two years of dedicated service. His deployment in Bosnia Herzegovina from 2001-2002 was a period of his life that shaped his perspective and reinforced his sense of duty. Following his military service, he worked diligently as a warehouse worker for Walmart DC 6072 in New Albany, MS, until his retirement.
A man of many talents, James spent his days working in his wood shop, skillfully crafting and building things for people. He had an incredible ability to look at an object and recreate it with his own hands. His skills as a craftsman were only matched by his loving and gentle nature, which endeared him to all who knew him.
James’s faith was the cornerstone of his existence. He was never shy about sharing the impact of the Lord’s work in his life and eagerly testified about the grace that could be extended to others. His love for the MSU Bulldogs and the Dallas Cowboys was unwavering, his loyalty to his teams unwavering no matter the season’s outcome.
Described by those who knew him best as handy, loving, and gentle, James’s legacy will live on in the hearts of those he touched. He was a man who built more than just tangible objects; he constructed a life full of love, a strong faith, and a family bound by his devotion. James Stark will be deeply missed, but his spirit will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him.
We would like to thank Roy (Cuz) Page, who was like a brother to him, for the unselfish time and support he gave and to the staff at NMMC for all they did.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at The Sanctuary, 960 Hwy. 15 S, New Albany, MS, from 4:00-8:00 pm. The funeral service will be Thursday, December 11, 2025, at 11:00 am also at The Sanctuary, with Military Honors to follow at the graveside at Ingomar Cemetery. Rev. Clift Jeter, and Rev. Jeff Jones will officiate. Pallbearers will be Jerry Little, Mike Ward, Roy Page, Brandon Holston, Melvin Spight, and Caleb Starnes.
