Jane George, 85

December 17, 1939  –  April 24, 2025

Ruby Jane Miller George, affectionately known as Jane, departed from this world on the 24th of April, 2025 at Union County Health and Rehab In New Albany. She was born on December 17, 1939, in Blue Springs, MS.

Those fortunate enough to have known Jane were blessed by her straightforwardness and zest for life. She will be remembered as a figure of strength and resilience, speaking her mind with the gentleness of a caring heart. Her spirited personality shone through in everything she did, from her days as a dedicated cafeteria worker at East Union School to her accomplished tenure as a retail store manager from which she retired.

Jane’s love for travel in her younger years took her to many places, each adventure marked by a new spoon to add to her cherished collection. Even when she wasn’t roaming far and wide, Jane found pleasure in the simple joys in life, such as solving Find-a-Word puzzles and the lively competition of playing Bingo.

She moves on to join her parents, Felon Tate Miller and Maggie Lavada Rakestraw Miller; her children, Ricky George and Georgette George; her brother, Wennon Miller; and her sister, Eloise Floyd, who predeceased her. Jane’s memory will be cherished and kept alive by her loving daughters, Rita Burchfield (married to Dean) and Jackie Hutcheson; her sister, Nancy Timmons; her five grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held at United Funeral Service on Saturday, April 26, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. until service time at 12:00 p.m. Bro. Jared Busby will officiate. Burial will be at Camp Creek Cemetery, near Guntown, MS.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’ Hospital.
