Janice “Jan” Kay Presley Richardson, 81
November 14, 1944 – September 18, 2026
Janice Kay Presley Richardson, lovingly known as “Jan” to nearly everyone, completed her earthly journey and entered her Heavenly Home on Friday evening, September 18, 2026, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. She was surrounded by the love and tender care of her devoted family.
Funeral services honoring the life of Mrs. Jan will be held at 11 AM Monday, September 21, 2026, in the Heritage Chapel of Ripley Funeral Home, with Bro. Terry Ray Vuncannon and Bro. Ron Norvell officiating. Visitation will be from 9 AM until the time of service on Monday. Burial will follow in Lowry Church Cemetery, with no graveside service.
Born November 14, 1944, in Tippah County, Mississippi, Mrs. Jan was the daughter of the late James Robert and Frances Almedia Ketchum Presley. She began her education at Center School, where she attended through the eleventh grade. Following the consolidation of the schools, she completed her education and graduated from Falkner High School.
As a young woman, Mrs. Jan worked for a short time at Sears in Memphis, Tennessee. Following a brief courtship, she married the love of her life, Mr. Billy Hoyte Richardson, on January 25, 1964. Together, they built a beautiful life in Ripley, raised their family, and shared more than 62 years of love and companionship. Mrs. Jan was also a hardworking woman who was employed in the manufacturing industry at both Blue Bell and Red Kap before her retirement.
A Christian woman whose faith remained an important part of her life, Mrs. Jan found happiness in the simple blessings that surrounded her. In earlier years, she greatly enjoyed sewing and traveling to various places alongside Mr. Billy Hoyte. As her health began to decline, she discovered a love for creating beautiful crafts with beads. She also enjoyed bird-watching and delighted in seeing the many different birds that visited.
Above all else, Mrs. Jan’s greatest joy was found in her family. She treasured her role as “Grandma” and loved every opportunity to spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Whether gathered for a special occasion or simply sharing an ordinary day, time spent with those she loved was always precious to her.
Mrs. Jan will be remembered for her warm smile, friendly nature, and humble, uncomplicated way of life. Her gentle presence will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know and love her. Although her family’s hearts are saddened by her passing, they find peace in knowing that she has been completely healed from every earthly pain and now enjoys the riches of Heaven, resting safely in the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
In addition to her husband, best friend, and devoted caregiver, Mr. Billy Hoyte, Mrs. Jan’s memory will continue to be cherished by her daughter, Annette McBryde (Tony); her brother, Tom Presley (Bobbie); two grandchildren, Michael McBryde (Mallori) and Samantha Graddy (Joseph); three great-grandsons, Lucas and Landon McBryde and Dallas Graddy; a great-granddaughter on the way, Colby Graddy; and her daughter-in-law, Pam Richardson. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Jan was preceded in death by her son, Rusty Richardson; three brothers, Guyton Presley, Harold Presley, and Tate Presley; and two sisters, Billie Floyd and Elsie Wood.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Jacob Hopper, Michael Hurt, Preston Hurt, Chris Jones, Randy Presley, and Keith Richardson.
