Janice Sloan, 63

Jackson, TN/Tupelo-Janice Marie Whitten Sloan, at age 63, died at Jackson/Madison Co. General Medical Center in Jackson, TN, on Saturday, August 2, 2025, after a period of failing health. Janice, a native of Lee County, MS, was born on June 20, 1963, in Tupelo to the late Christine Brooks and Luther Whitten. She graduated from Tupelo High School in 1980.
Janice lived in Lee County much of her life before marrying Timothy Neal Sloan in Jackson, TN, on June 3, 2000. A lover of the outdoors, she and Tim lived on the land in Madison Co., TN, where they loved tending their farm and taking care of many animals and chickens. Janice was an independent, strong willed lady who endured much hardship and grief in her life but made the best of it all and approached every day with zeal, zest and vitality.
She endured the death of her parents, a brother and two sons and never lost her faith in God as her strength. She was employed several years in housekeeping at Jackson/Madison General Hospital and had worked as a server/hospitality hostess at the Pine Ridge Club the last 10 years. Janice grew up in the Priceville Baptist Church attending with her parents and siblings. She loved and doted over her grandchildren and was a shelter for countless animals esp. dogs over her life time.
She and Tim enjoyed riding motorcycles, made many trips around the country with her husband as he traveled with his commercial construction job. Blessed with a wide circle of friends, Janice enjoyed their visits and long conversations with all her family and friends.
Visitation in Tupelo for Janice will take place from 5 PM-7PM Wednesday, August 13, 2025 at Holland Funeral Directors-Tupelo. A service celebrating her life will take place on Thursday, August 14, 2025 at the Pine Ridge Club, 2338 Hwy 18, Medon, TN. Visitation will begin at Noon on Thursday at Pine Ridge Club. The burial will take place on the Sloan farm after the service. Holland Funeral Directors-Tupelo is honored to be serving their longtime friends.
Janice leaves behind her husband, Tim Sloan of Jackson, TN; her son, Rusty Clements of Tupelo; her children from her marriage to Tim, Alicia Gammons (Jimmy) and Matthew Sloan of Jackson, TN; her grandchildren, Evelyn, Lexie, Jackson, Rowdy, River, Ella Rose, Jadelyn, Paisley, Matilyn and Gunner; her sister, Gail Gregory (Kenny) of Tupelo. She was preceded in death by her parents, Christine and Luther Whitten, her sons, Ben Parmer and Austin Parmer and her brother, Mike Whitten.
