Janie Wilder, 82

October 28, 1942  –  February 20, 2025

On Thursday, February 20, 2025, Mrs. Janie Lou Bagwell Wilder died peacefully at home, the place she worked tirelessly and joyfully to make a haven for her family. She set aside faith for sight, hope for glory, corruptible for incorruptible that does not fade away.

Mrs. Wilder was born on October 28, 1942, to J.Q. and Edna Bagwell of Ingomar, Mississippi. She was married to the love of her life, Dewitt Wilder, for 53 years until his passing in 2016. One of her greatest joys was to have all her family together. She loved being a GranGran and was always purposeful about spending quality time with her grandchildren and keeping up with everything they were doing.

Mr. and Mrs. Wilder were charter members of Hillcrest Baptist Church in New Albany, where they faithfully attended and served for decades. Mrs. Janie was a faithful prayer warrior and a committed giver, and she always took time to get to know people.

Janie Wilder is survived by her brother Luther Bagwell, her children Royce Wilder (Bevin) of Corinth and Frank Wilder (Lisa) of Pontotoc, as well as her grandchildren Brooke Perry (Jonathan), Alaina Wilder, Rachel Wilder, Brianna Wilder, Logan Wilder, Ciara Wilder and Daniel Wilder, and three greatgrandchildren, Hadlee, Harper and Saylor Perry, as well as many other extended family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Carlton Bagwell, Jimmy Bagwell, and Arnold Bagwell, and her husband, Dewitt Wilder.

Visitation for Mrs. Wilder will be Saturday, February 22, 2025, at United Funeral Service in New Albany at 12:00, followed immediately by the funeral service at 2:00.

United Funeral Service is honored to be entrusted with these arrangements.
