Jennifer Gay “JJ” Harris, 47

Jennifer Gay “JJ” Harris

March 18, 1972 – April 3, 2019

God gave us a person with a heart larger than life, with a compassion and concern greater for the lives she touched rather than her own. This person was destined to become a beloved daughter, wife, mother, sister and friend. So God gave us Jennifer Jo “JJ” Gay Harris. For this we are truly thankful and on April 3, 2019 at the age of 47, we gave back this gift that he so graciously shared with us.

A Service celebrating the beautiful life of Jennifer will be at 2 PM Friday, April 5 at First United Methodist Church in New Albany with Bro. Tim Prather and Bro. Giles Lindley officiating. Arrangements will be provided by New Albany Funeral & Cremation Care (662)539-7000.

Jennifer was born March 18, 1972 in Memphis, TN, the daughter of Joe and Brenda Daniel Gay of Ripley. She was a 1990 graduate of Ripley High School, received her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Mississippi and a Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Alabama. Jennifer was married on May 7, 1994 to her devoted husband and best friend of 25 years, Matthew Y. “Matt” Harris, a New Albany attorney who survives.

A faithful member of First United Methodist Church of New Albany, Jennifer was a valued employee of the Centene Healthcare Corporation located in Oxford, MS.

Jennifer will be remembered as a person who enjoyed and celebrated life. Let us celebrate too and enjoy our lives because we were fortunate enough to have her be a part of ours. Her family was the center of her life and she cherished every opportunity she shared with them and her friends. Mission trips and her Women’s Bible Group were great passions. Her smile could brighten up any room and her servant’s heart was always willing to go the extra mile to show God’s love to those around her.

She leaves behind a small piece of herself in all of those that will continue to love her through their memories… memories of love, compassion, kindness and lots of laughter. Jennifer is a special treasure that will never be forgotten.

Visitation will continue today from 1 PM until service time at First United Methodist Church of New Albany.

In addition to her husband and parents, memories will also forever be cherished by her three children, whom she adored, Sarah Kathryn, Hannah Elise and Matthew Harris all of New Albany, one brother, Christian Gay (Kristen) of Southaven, a sister and brother-in-law, Amy Harris and Dale Brown of Nashville, mother and father in law, Tony and Joyce Harris of Nashville, two nieces, Lexie and Emma Gay of Southaven and one nephew Liam Brown, of Nashville.

The family request that memorials be directed to First United Methodist Church Building Fund, 207 East Bankhead, New Albany, MS 38652

The staff of New Albany Funeral and Cremation Care invites you to share memories.
