Jerry Stevens, 65

June 8, 1959 – January 16, 2025

Jerry E. Stevens, a cherished husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on January 16, 2025, at the age of 65, leaving behind a legacy of laughter, love, and life lived to its fullest. Born in New Albany on June 8, 1959, Jerry’s charismatic presence and quick-witted humor became a beacon of joy for all who knew him.



Jerry is survived by his loving wife of thirty-seven years, Terri Rutherford Stevens, who was the cornerstone of his life. Together, they raised a son, Timothy Stevens, who continues to embody the strength and kindness Jerry was known for. His sister Barbara Frazier, brother Johnnie Stevens and wife Lela, and sister-in-law Tammie Colbert will fondly remember Jerry’s spirited nature. He was a cherished uncle to his nieces, Kelly “Sweetie Pie” Stevens, Amanda Doss, and his nephews, Heath and Jared Stevens, and Jeffrey Gordon. His great-nephew Brandon Gordon will also hold dear the memories of his great-uncle’s adventurous tales. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Robbie Stevens, his twin brother, Terry Stevens, with whom he shared an incomparable connection, his sister Gloria Stevens, and a nephew, Kurt Stevens.

Armed with an Associates Degree in Marketing, Jerry was a man of many talents and held numerous titles in his work life. His career spanned various local businesses including the Co-op, the tire store, and the pizza shop, where he was known not just for his sales acumen but also for his ability to make even the most mundane interactions memorable.

Jerry’s love for the outdoors was as expansive as the natural world he enjoyed exploring. An avid outdoorsman, he found solace and excitement in hunting and fishing, sharing his passion and respect for nature with his family and friends. Above all, Jerry’s pride and joy were his family, whom he loved without measure. His ability to weave humor and warmth into every gathering will be deeply missed and forever appreciated.

Those who knew Jerry can attest that he was an interesting, funny, and spirited individual. His stories, often punctuated with his signature wit, will continue to echo in the hearts of those who loved him. His absence will leave a void in the fabric of many lives, but his spirit will remain an inspiring and comforting presence.

Services to honor his life will be on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at United Funeral Service at 11:00am with Bro. Daniel Smith and Bro. Louie Williams officiating. A visitation will be on Friday from 5:00pm until 8:00pm also at United. Burial will be at Glenfield Memorial Park.
