A Time to be Born
On December 12, 1945, Jewell entered the earth as the sixth child of Major Kilgo and Katharine Kilgo McIntosh in Lee County, Mississippi.
A Time for Spiritual Birth
Jewell accepted Christ at a young age and was baptized at Mud Creek M. B. Church. Later in life, after relocating, she attended and worshiped with Zion Spring Missionary Baptist Church in Verona, Mississippi.
A Time to Live
Jewell was married to the Big Man Spencer, who preceded her in death.
Jewell was a mother of five children, a homemaker and a very unique lady, who took pride in maintaining a clean house. She enjoyed going to church and having conversations about the Lord, a jewelry lover who loved wearing her rings and bracelets, cooking, fishing, watching western movies, and drinking coffee with her family and friends. She had a heart of gold, would do whatever she could to help others, also loved spending quality time with her family and the visitors and the staff of Tupelo Nursing & Rehab.
A Time to Leave
Jewell departed this earthly life on Tuesday, June 10, 2025. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Katherine Louis Johnson; and six siblings.
A Time to Remember
To forever cherish her memory, Jewell leaves behind her children, Rita Johnson of Jackson, Mississippi, Josie Johnson of Oxford, Mississippi, Teresa Johnson of Dorsey, Mississippi, Spencer Johnson of Shannon, Mississippi; two brothers, Major Kilgo of Chicago, Illinois, Charles (Pinkie) Kilgo of Tupelo, Mississippi; three grandchildren; Kathesa (Joel) Thomas, Lemil Parks and Shawn Kilgo, Cedrick Johnson, two special friends, Alice Washington of Memphis, Tennessee, Lela Powe of Tupelo, Mississippi; a host of great-grands, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
