Jimmy Edward Hancock, 66
May 26, 1959 – March 23, 2026
Jimmy Edward Hancock, age 66, passed away on Monday, March 23, 2026, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union County. In honoring Jimmy’s wishes, a private burial will be held at Flat Rock Cemetery in Blue Mountain. The family is grateful for your thoughts, prayers, and love during this difficult time.
Born on May 26, 1959, in New Albany, Mississippi, to the late Edward and Sallie Faye Hudson Hancock, Jimmy was a member of Flat Rock Baptist Church and a proud graduate of Hickory Flat Attendance Center.
Jimmy was the kind of man who never sat still for long. If something was broken, he was already working on fixing it. If a house needed work, he was ready to remodel it. He truly was a jack of all trades, and he took pride in doing things with his own hands. He found joy in the simple things—browsing antique stores, adding to his vinyl and stereo collection, and spending time with his beloved dogs.
More than anything, Jimmy loved his family. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, quiet strength, and a life lived in his own steady, dependable way. Those who knew him will remember his willingness to help, his knack for figuring things out, and the way he stayed busy doing what he loved.
He is survived by two daughters, Holley Hancock (Kelvin Taylor) of Blue Mountain and Kimberly Wilson (Wilbert) of New Albany; his son, Stephen Hancock (Amanda Martin) of Ripley; fifteen grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him great pride and joy. He is also survived by his special first cousin, Mike Hancock (Lesley) and their children, and his special friend and caregiver, Kim Gray, who meant so much to him.
Jimmy is now reunited with his parents, whom he loved dearly.
Though he will be deeply missed, his family finds comfort in the many memories he leaves behind and the lasting impact he made on their lives.
