Jody Jennings, 82

January 15, 1943  –  March 6, 2025

Joe Raymond “Jody” Jennings, a cherished family man and well- known member of his community, passed away at NMMC in Tupelo, MS, on March 6, 2025, at the age of 82. Born on January 15, 1943, in New Albany, MS, to Clarence B. Jennings and Dorothy Raines Jennings, Jody’s life was a testament to the values of love, hard work, and selflessness. He was a member of Beulah Baptist Church.

Jody’s journey through life was shared with his beloved wife of 61 years, Judie Crouch Jennings, who was his steadfast partner in all aspects of life. Together, they raised a son, Joey Jennings (Cathy), and a daughter, Kristy Meyer (Randy), instilling in them the importance of family and the joy of life’s simple pleasures. He was a doting grandfather to Jessica and Riley Meyer, and his heart swelled with pride at the birth of his great-grandchild, Kaylee Jones. His sister, Liz Rutledge, also survives him, carrying forward the memories of their shared childhood. Jody was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, leaving behind a legacy of cherished memories.

Jody dedicated many years of his life to the furniture industry, working diligently in factories throughout New Albany until his well-deserved retirement. His work ethic and dedication to his craft were admired by all who knew him, and he was deeply respected within the industry. His involvement in his profession was not just a job but a significant part of who he was—a man who took pride in providing for his family.

Jody was a man of many passions. His love for his grandchildren and great-grandchild knew no bounds, and he relished every moment spent in their company. Jody spent countless hours riding horses, an activity that brought him immense joy and peace. His love for the outdoors was apparent to all, as he found contentment in coon hunting with his beloved coon dogs, a pastime that brought him closer to nature.

Jody’s love for Westerns was evident in his choice of entertainment; he was often found watching Western films or engrossed in a Western novel. His appreciation for the great outdoors extended to his own yard, where he spent many hours mowing and maintaining his property. The special bond he shared with his son, Joey, was built on shared interests and mutual respect, a connection that remained strong throughout his life.

Described by those who knew him best as loving, gentle, and selfless, Jody’s character was the foundation upon which his life was built. He was a simple man, finding happiness in his life every day and to prioritize the well-being of his loved ones above all else.

Jody’s legacy is one of love and dedication, and he will be remembered for the warmth and kindness he extended to everyone he met. His gentle spirit and generous heart left an indelible mark on his family, friends, and his community. Jody Jennings lived a life that was full, with moments that mattered, relationships that were nurtured, and a family that was loved beyond measure. He will be profoundly missed, but the memories he created will be treasured forever.
