John Carl Williams, 84

October 17, 1940 — December 29, 2024

John Carl “J.C.” Williams, age 84, passed away Friday, December 27, 2024 at the Rest Haven Nursing Facility in Ripley. John Carl was born October 17, 1940 in Tupelo, the son of Nathaniel Bruce and Hazel Raper Williams. He was a proud graduate of Tupelo High School, class of 1962. Immediately after graduation, he began his 52 year career as a butcher. John Carl loved his job and worked for many local grocery stores including, Tate’s Big Star, Palmer’s Big Star, and Piggly Wiggly in Pontotoc from which he retired. John Carl had a strong Christian faith, devoted to prayer and his church, County Line Baptist Church. He also attended Verona Pentecostal Church. He was dedicated to reading his Bible daily and a faithful prayer warrior for anyone in need.



John Carl leaves behind his wife of 27 years, Patty Hodge Williams of Pontotoc; two daughters, Teresa Williams of Pontotoc and Michelle Williams Lail of Tupelo; his step-daughter, Tina Clark (David) of Pontotoc; grandchildren, Katelyn Collier (Chance), Nicole McCollum, Brandon Fulghum (Jullianna), Mathilda Nash (Tyler), and Mackenzie Lail; great-grandchildren, Cullen, Grayden, Jaycee, Jaelah, Kasper Max, Kamden Rose, Koehn Asher, and Miles William; two sister, Carlene Spearman and Linda Bell; a brother, Steve Williams (Carol); and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bruce and Hazel Williams; and a brother, Bobby “Chigger” Williams.

Services celebrating John Carl’s life will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, December 31, 2024 at County Line Baptist Church with Rev. Wayne Cobb and Rev. Andrew Mauney officiating. Burial will follow at Macedonia Cemetery. Visitation will be 11 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the church.

Pallbearers will be Jordan Bell, Brian Spearman, David Clark, Sam Patterson, Tyler Nash, Brandon Fulghum, and Mike Bell.
