July’s Museum Moments will be a Celebration of Hymns and Their History
How Firm a Foundation: A Celebration of Hymns is the topic of Museum Moments set Thursday, July 16, from 12 noon until 1 p.m. The location will be the Sanctuary of the Cleveland Street Community Church next door to the museum, due to lack of space for the program at the museum.
New Albany native Temple Stewart Hester will lead a group of 24 individuals performing a selection of favorite hymns which will be performed with a history of the hymn spoken.
Hester, who grew up in New Albany and now lives in Pontotoc, is working with multiple groups from Pontotoc, Lee and Union Counties who will participate in the program.
The program is free and the public is invited. It will celebrate such favorites as “It is Well with My Soul, The Unclouded Day, Come Thy Fount,” and other traditional favorites.
A pick up lunch will be available for the public at the Museum after the conclusion of the Celebration in the Church Sanctuary.
The Museum is located at 114 Cleveland Street, New Albany and the Cleveland Street Church is located at 200 Cleveland St, New Albany. For more information call 662-538-0014.
